USO Continues to Expand in Utah
The USO continues to increase its visibility in Utah, holding a pair of recent events in Salt Lake City to support service members and their families in the area.
Our team visited the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) to provide a grab-and-go lunch for the 40 MEPS staff members during a quarterly training day. During the day, we were able to meet with the commander and put together plans in September for a small USO center to open within the MEPS facility, where the USO can provide new military applicants a touch of family, home, and country.
We were also thrilled at the opportunity to bring a mobile USO unit from Los Angeles to the Utah Air National Guard 75th Anniversary celebration at Wright ANG Base in Salt Lake City. More than 4,000 people attended the event, where the USO provided a kids’ craft activity and a chance to hang out with Star Wars characters!
In addition to the fun, there was a meet and greet with the Governor of Utah, leaders of the Utah ANG, and the USO was able to openly recruit volunteers for our growing operation in Utah.
