USO Las Vegas Program Helping our Service Members
I met Raymond, a 20 year Air Force Veteran at a job fair where he was actively seeking employment. After explaining the USO Las Vegas Transition Services program we set up an appointment to meet. Raymond needed assistance with his resume and was seeking employment in the veteran’s services field. He wanted to gain the opportunity to give back to those who had served as he had. He was interested in a position at the local Las Vegas US Vets program. After fixing up his resume and having him apply online I made a phone call to one of our community partners over at US Vets and asked that they please review Raymond’s application and qualifications. After his initial interview Raymond waited to hear back. Last week at another job fair I ran into Raymond. He let me know that the process was going well and that he was hoping he would get the job. In the middle of the job fair his phone rang, it was the news that he had been waiting for, Raymond got the job, the one that he wanted! He will be starting in his new position at US Vets this week. Raymond has also volunteered to be part of the new USO Las Vegas Transition Mentoring Program, where he will have the opportunity to give back to those that are newly separating from the Service.
